Soda Fabric are another group in the burgeoning scene of Israeli musicians making American and UK inspired indie rock and one of the best I’ve heard yet. While Vaadat Charigim borrow from the stylistic palette of groups like The National and The Walkmen, Soda Fabric make afro-pop tinged surf-punk, something that hasn’t been a big force in the indiesphere since about 2009. I’ve always admitted to being a sucker for afro-pop inspired music and I can’t help falling for the fun and energy on Soda Fabric’s “Swim”. Blending surf-punk chord changes with afro-pop breaks and bridges, “Swim” is a nice breath of fresh air for bright and energetic indie rock. The video here doesn’t do much more than demonstrate what an Israeli hipster looks like… which is pretty cool.
