As some of you may know, our boy Beat Culture is not only an electronic music maven but also a smarty pants who attends CT’s own Yale University. Being the social butterfly he is, Beat Culture has met some pretty cool dudes at Yale, including the dudes behind experimental rock outfit Limes. Although Limes have been performing and recording together for under a year now, the guys have managed to construct a distinct sound with a surprisingly deep collection of tracks. Limes fall into a similar style of psychedelic rock tread by groups like Akron/Family and Foxygen with plenty of dynamic song shifts and a refusal to be tied down to one genre or influence. The group released their Dress the Same Everyday LP last September which is filled with enough buzz worthy tracks to get Hipster Runoff to plan how he’s going to make fun of their name for the next few years. Highlights “Loophole” and “Have Faith” blend multipart harmonies with righteous guitar solos and plenty of ambient synth prettiness. If they aren’t too busy studying through college, we’ll be on the lookout for new Limes material.
