Although the future of Trap as a genre is looking more and more uncertain every day, its definitely worth enjoying before the bastardization kicks into full gear. This track by MORRI$, who has been making trap since waaaay before it was buzzing at all, is a great reminder of all that the genre can be. This “Cloud Edit” of an earlier track of MORRI$’ starts with some solemn synths and strings that sound somewhere between Roy Ayers and Brian Eno, setting the mood before it completely takes off around the 2:40 mark. At 2:40, the inflated and pitched 808 kicks and snares hit, along with one of MORRI$’ perfectly manipulated vocal samples. Regardless of which direction trap moves in over the course of 2013, I really hope MORRI$’ name doesn’t fade into obscurity because he is just one of the huge talents that has risen through the early stages of the genre.
