With the rise of trap in electronic music over the past few months it’s no surprise that its older cousin juke is starting to gain more attention. Born in the Chicago, juke/footwork has been a huge force in underground electronics since the early 90s with plenty of prolific artists who have never achieved house hold name status with their hi-hat heavy and jittery dance music. Traxman is one of those juke mainstays and while some people have probably been bumping his music for a while, for the rest of us his Heat EP serves as a great introduction. ‘Da World Around Us’ opens up that EP and has managed to demonstrate why Traxman is already a “legend”. Centered around a smooth and sweet sample, ‘Da World Around Us’ has Traxman constructing a hypnotizing rhythm of hi-hats and synth arpeggios. Once the groove hits the track washes into a gorgeous 5 minutes of warehouse-rave-ready music.
