DIIV has had their work cut out for them since the start. In a blogosphere crowded with dreamy indie-rock bands with many ready to put the sun-soaked music out of style, DIIV have been pretty unstoppable on their mission to not only be another band but one of the best. With their first full-length Oshin, DIIV basically do just that with the smartest take on jangly, surf-pop since Real Estate’s Days from last year. On Oshin, DIIV is able to utilize all their lush instrumentation and turn it into an undeniable dreamy mesh of sonic goodness. Their soundscapes sound as big as the ocean itself with imagery that is able to surpass simply describing lazy summer nights. I’d definitely recommend preordering this because I can only imagine how good this would sound with huge speakers.
