The Swing Lo Magellan hype continues to build with this new video for first leak ‘Gun Has No Trigger’. Inspired by the mid-2000s ipod ads that made such songs as ‘Flathead’ and ‘Shut Up And Let Me Go’ popular, this clip features the silhouettes of the band as they belt out the incredibly vocal demanding track. As the track builds during the chorus the video reveals clear shots of the singers to highlight just how much they have to strain their faces to belt out the notes and it works well with the swelling chorus. Also David’s new flow is pretty darn cool.
Maybe even last year I would have expected an artist named Nathan Fake to make the sort of warm, hazy bedroom pop that just about every producer was making last year, however, now that the daze of chillwave has worn off a bit we instead have this techno-inspired banger. ’Sense Head’ is the kind of song that is impossible not to, at the very minimum, nod your head to as Nathan Fake builds an incredible melody of a fast-paced and danceable beat. Nathan Fake works with synths of ‘Sense Head’ the way a lot of producers work with samples, slowly warping and looping certain aspects throughout the song. With ‘Sense Head’ Nathan Fake is making abandoned warehouse dance party music, and it’s just as awesome as that sounds.
