Nod One’s Head are an indie-electronic duo that are perfectly aware of how hipsters are going to react to their down-tempo dance music. ’UP’ couldn’t be farther from rave music but it definitely lives up to the promise and has me nodding my head (with my arms crossed of course) like a true blogger. Between the guitar work and the female vocals, Nod One’s Head could probably best be described as a micro-house version of The xx with some similar vibes to Avalon Emerson’s music. ’UP’ is a pretty strong way for this German duo to start out so I’ll definitely be looking out for what they put out next.
So far, each of Nvthlss’ beat tapes have been great collections of tracks that showcase the French producer’s unique style while being fun (and totally free) listens. Although EP4 is the shortest of the releases so far at only 4 tracks, it only adds to his already great reputation. This is mostly because of the two remixes that appear on EP4 of Usher’s ‘Climax’ and Aaliyah’s ‘Are You That Somebody’. Both of the remixes are given the parisian flip that Nvthlss has made his signature sound. The originals on the EP are equally as stunning, ‘My knowledge is too limited’ may be his best track yet.
Let’s be honest, dropping hype worthy videos has become one of the biggest ways for rappers to gain popularity on the blogosphere. So it’s about time the Cleveland rapper NicX decided to drop a video to build up some hype for his upcoming mixtape NicXNation II. The clip is for his track ‘Okay Bye’ and it definitely brings out the darker side of the track focusing on NicX in a claustrophobic booth with lots strobe flashes and other distorted visuals. Towards the end, as NicX’s own vocals get progressively warped the video becomes disorienting in the best way possible.
