As my first introduction to Asheville’s Sin Kitty, ‘Vanity Daze’ leaves a pretty great first impression. The song begins at a lurching pace with the sweaty atmospherics of an unfinished basement. These guys aren’t willing to stay in that basement, however, as the song progresses through it’s 5 minutes. As the female vocals wash in and begin to build the tension of the song reaches breaking point as the mechanical guitar breaks out into classic surf-rock bliss. Of course, like all great trips, the band collapse back into the dark section before the song ends. Basically, the perfect track for anyone who isn’t quite sure how to prepare for Spring’s warm weather.
