mp3: Chris Villa- Remember the Pope (prod. Hanz)

Chris Villa and Hanz have been making great tracks together for a while now and each time they have gotten better from the collaboration.  Their latest track, ‘Remember the Pope’, is definitely the best they’ve sounded together with Chris Villa pushing to rap just as aggressively as Hanz’ beat is unsettling and disorienting.  Lyrically, this is the strongest material I’ve heard from Chris Villa.  His flow is perfectly suited for this kind of lyrical assault as Chris Villa mixes religious references with the more typical topics of drugs and sex.  I’ve liked everything I’ve heard from Villa’s upcoming mixtape Pillage Vatican City so I’ll definitely be psyched to hear that when it drops.

Mixtape: Color Plus- Fuzz

Here’s a nice collection of beats from the Connecticut based project Color Plus.  Color Plus makes experimental hip-hop and trap beats that would sound great under any worthy rapper.  The tracks here are synth, sample and high-hat heavy that do a good job synthesizing the currently popular ambient hip-hop beats with more traditional boom-bap style beats.  The tape’s 9 songs won’t take very long to listen through and it has plenty of memorable moments that demand replaying and make Color Plus stand-out as a beat maker.  Hopefully we’ll see some collaborations in the near future because Color Plus is making some great sounds.  Listen to more Color Plus at his soundcloud and download Fuzz at his bandcamp
