Enjoy It While It’s Fresh: Michael Uzowuru

…And the young talent keeps coming.  Michael Uzowuru is a producer out of Southern California who has been casually putting up some of the most well-crafted, sample-heavy jams I have heard in a while on bandcamp over the past year or so.  Uzowuru has pretty much slipped under the radar except for a quiet co-production credit on one of the best songs on Odd Future’s psychedelic production team The Jet Age of Tomorrow’s recent album Journey to the 5th Echelon, “Want You Still”.  Uzowuru’s mellowed out instrumentals definitely deserve attention though.  On one of my favorite releases of his, no need for sense (which you can stream below), he takes the style of using jazz samples, which has been done to death, and puts a new spin on it.  He molds the samples easily into jazzy, funky, psychedelic, and synthy instrumentals one by one, never stumbling once.  I’m not sure where Uzowuru will fit into the music industry; as a beat-maker or a Flying Lotus-type instrumental-maker, but hopefully we will be hearing more from him in the near future.  Stream no need for sense below and link to his bandcamp page below that.  Suggested tracks are “no name”, “nigga”, and “Octopus Jones – Leaned”
