Big Sean – Made (Feat. Drake)

If at first you don’t succeed, get a verse from Drake.  Here’s the next single off of Big Sean’s upcoming debut album Finally Famous.  His first single Bullshittin’ was good, but didn’t build him much mainstream buzz, so he gets a verse from the rapper who it seems can do no wrong when it comes to mainstream buzz, and I gotta admit, it makes for a nice track.  Look for this track on your local radio station soon.

Enjoy it While It’s Fresh- Wild Nothing

[vodpod id=ExternalVideo.938172&w=425&h=350&fv=]

Wild Nothing is a bedroom-pop act manned by Jack Tatum. His song Chinatown is a real standout among the crowded genre. The video perfectly captures the sun-soaked mood of the music. Although it isn’t chill-wave Wild Nothing fits right in with Toro y Moi and is a perfect summer jam.  Wild Nothing is ready to become a blog success if he continues to make great songs like Chinatown so enjoy it while it’s fresh!

New Song from Decemberist’s Colin Meloy

[vodpod id=ExternalVideo.938169&w=425&h=350&fv=]

I am a huge fan of folk band Decemberists, even though I didn’t enjoy their prog-rock opera released last year. After said album was released Meloy said he finally could write Decemberist songs again! Here he sings a January Hymn and it is classic Decemberists. This makes me very excited to hear what they have planned for later this decade.

Jay Electronica – The Ghost of Christopher Wallace (Feat. Diddy)

Hearing new music from Jay Electronica is a rare but always great occasion.  In this new track Jay teamed up with Diddy to make a type of Notorious B.I.G. tribute.  I’ve never understood why Jay works with Diddy, but especially on this track, Jay Electronica is good enough so that it is worth it to deal with Diddy’s Diddyness.

Blu – NewMGNGrand

Another great day for music.  Its always great to hear something new from one of my favorite rappers.  In interviews I have heard Blu referring to a rock project that he has complete, and this may be one of those songs.  When rappers say they are making rock projects, it often turns out terrible (I think you know exactly who), but Blu’s version of a rock song sounds nothing like you would expect, it actually reminds me a little bit of Animal Collective.
